Yarn/Pattern Suggestions

This generous shawl or scarf knits up quickly into a lightweight, warm garment meant to be wrapped several times, replacing the need for a bulky jacket. Width may be changed by adding or subtracting stitches in increments of 14; each additional repeat of the pattern will add approximately 4" to the final blocked width and 2.5" in length.

Shawl:19 W X 84 Scarf:12 W X 64 LFinal measurements are dependent on yarn/needle choices; finer yarns and smaller needles will reduce the overall dimensions, while heavier yarns and larger needles will increase the size.
Yarn Requirements: 900 yards Scarf:‚450 yds
Gauge: 16 stitches and 14 rows = 4" in st stitch (unblocked;fabric will feel light and be somewhat open); fabric will block out to a larger size for finished piece
Needles: Size 8 (or size needed to obtain gauge) needles one size smaller than body needles will be needed for garter edging
