Named after the Indian Diwali festival, the word comes from Sanskrit and is translated as "row of lights."  The Diwali festival includes lighting small clay lamps to signify the triumph of good over evil.  The lace pattern used in this project is reminiscent of small oil lamps, wit the beads glowing as little flames.  This project is for the intermediate lace knitter who enjoys working from charts.  Special elements include- twisted stitches and optional beads.

This pattern was designed by Andrea Jurgrau of Bad Cat Designs for Jade Sapphire Yarns.  This lovely scarf is knit in Jade Sapphire cashemere 2 ply lace weight yarn.  The yarn is due here in January 2012!
