Yarn/Pattern Suggestions

A quick and easy way to show off your Fair Isle knitting skills. Peerie means “small” in Orkney. These are the patterns traditionally used to set off the larger patterns in sweaters and other garments. While our intent is for knitters to place colors where they want to place them, we have included a full-color chart to duplicate one of the socks pictured as well as a color your own chart. You choose whether to have a matching pair, or a pair that just coordinates and makes you grin with silliness!

Features

Gauge: 30 sts and 32 rows = 4"/10 cm (measured in Fair Isle pattern worked in the round).
Yarn: DK weight yarn (11 wpi). Two main colors - 125 yards each; four additional colors, 75 yards each. We used hand-dyed: pink, purple, yellow, lime, orange, and turquoise. This yardage is enough for all sizes and most color choices.
Needles and notions: One set of 5 each US size1 (2.5mm) and US size 2 (3.0mm) double pointed needles or needles sized to achieve gauge. Tapestry needle, yarn guide, locking stitch markers, stitch holder, waste yarn for provisional cast on.
