The focus of this classically shaped cardigan designed by
Connie Chang-Chinchio is the wide scoopneck topped by a texture and lace band. This band is reminiscent of bejewelled necklaces such as the ones Cleopatra has been depicted wearing, thus the name Alexandria, the Egyptian city from which Cleopatra ruled and died. The cardigan is knit in one piece up to the armholes, then separately for the fronts and back. Set in sleeves are picked up directly from the armholes and worked down to the cuffs to minimize seaming.
Woolie Silk is the perfect showcase for this design, with a handdyed sheen from its silk component and resilency and strength from its wool component.
